Olympic pride

I want to extend my thanks to all those involved in making the recent Olympic Torch celebrations a success.

I was lucky enough to attend both the Evesham and Droitwich Spa celebrations hosted by Wychavon, and Evesham Town Council, where people clearly had a lot of fun.

There was a truly carnival atmosphere with so many people turning out to support and line the streets.

Live music, stands and performers got everyone excited and ready to welcome the torch in style.

An extra thanks to all the volunteers and community groups who helped make the events such great fun.

Both were wonderful occasions and extremely well attended.

I’m sure everyone can agree that we can look with pride to the Olympic Games knowing that we’ve done our bit to cheer on the torch in its journey to London.

Councillor Richard Morris, Wychavon District Council chairman
