Crying foul

7:30am Saturday 20th March 2010

TO all dog owners in Bromsgrove, get a grip (literally). I do not expect to walk around Sanders Park and have to dodge dog mess for both my daughter’s buggy and my son’s bike.

Greenbelt frenzy

7:30am Saturday 20th March 2010

After reading the letter from Mike Brown (BDHT) in The Advertiser, I felt the need to write as Mr Brown seems to be busy trying to build on greenbelt all over the Bromsgrove district even though land has already been allocated for the building of affordable homes in Bromsgrove.

They’re losing it

7:30am Friday 19th March 2010

Bromsgrove Council has lost touch with reality. It is wasting our council tax on a dispute over who sits where in the council chamber and demolishing a £100,000 asset to make yet more unnecessary car parking spaces.

Why do they do it?

7:30am Friday 19th March 2010

IT seems that British politics is becoming a favourite pastime for high flying global bank executives like Sajid Javid, the Conservative central office nominee for Tory MP in the Conservative ‘safe seat’ of Bromsgrove, who had an extremely successful career with the US Chase Manhattan Bank, owned by Rockefeller and JP Morgan.

Getting angry

7:30am Thursday 18th March 2010

I WOULD like to reply to Mike Brown, chief executive of Bromsgrove District Housing Trust, and his letter of February 24, which criticised my earlier letter.

Political platform

7:30am Thursday 18th March 2010

IT seems to have been a successful move on the part of the council to move the market traders into the High Street during these financially difficult times and has brought people into the town.

Give it some stick

7:30am Wednesday 17th March 2010

Would the gentleman who removed my walking stick from the library, and was seen waving it about, please return it to the library so I can pick it up.

What a terrible din

7:20am Wednesday 17th March 2010

How inconsiderate can our local councillors be to have grinders and welders going at 7.15am on a Mothering Sunday. I’m sure that if it had been someone else all hell would have been let loose.

Operating with double standards

9:27am Tuesday 16th March 2010

Thanks to your publication, dated February 24, no one can be in doubt that the council leader has double standards. On page one he asks that residents get in contact and take part in a proposal to keep the community hospital as it is and not allow for the services provided at that site to be moved to other locations in the county.

Incomprehensible

9:28am Tuesday 16th March 2010

WITH regards to our incomprehensible council demolishing our market hall which is only 15-years-old.

Give Julie a break

7:10am Friday 12th March 2010

IS it not time we gave Julie Kirkbride a rest from a critique?

Looking for dad

7:10am Friday 12th March 2010

MY name is Lisa Brandquist and I now live in America. I was born in the mother and baby home in St Francis Way in Bentley Heath, Solihull.

Taking issue

7:10am Thursday 11th March 2010

I have to take issue with Mike Brown’s condescending response to the Alvechurch correspondent who suggested that affordable housing was funded by the council tax payer.

The trees will die

7:00am Thursday 11th March 2010

Dear councillors, if we don’t have any recycling in All Saints Road the trees will die.

Good Samaritans

7:00am Wednesday 10th March 2010

I should like to thank the young men who came to the rescue and helped me up when I fell coming out of Droitwich shopping centre.

They are pirates

7:00am Wednesday 10th March 2010

How I agree with Mark Anthony about the asset stripping which has been going on in this country.

Most impressive

7:00am Tuesday 9th March 2010

I am writing to say how impressed I was by the event on February 4 at the Artrix at the start of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) history month and how proud I was of Bromsgrove for hosting it. There was an interesting networking opportunity preceding the showing of the classic 1985 film My Beautiful Laundrette. Many organisations had put a lot of effort into creating an interesting display in the foyer and upstairs at the Artrix. Display tables were staffed by the West Mercia Police positive action outreach team, Bromsgrove library, the fire service, the Bromsgrove Council diversity team and the Gender Trust, to name but a few, advertising their resources and inclusivity.

Why the tax hike?

7:00am Tuesday 9th March 2010

The Local Government Association announced recently that the average council tax rise in April will be 1.6 per cent.

Confused by Tory stance on crime

3:03pm Monday 8th March 2010

Bromsgrove Tories, with some guidance from their London-based leadership and under by-election rules, have at last produced a candidate to stand in the forthcoming general election to replace the town’s disgraced MP.

Fast food fears

3:04pm Monday 8th March 2010

IN reply to disgruntled Catshill resident regarding yet another restaurant/takeaway in this vicinity, we agree with everything in their letter. We did object to the original planning application and also the appeal lodged by Mr M Stowe. We sent our objections, together with those of all our neighbours, regarding smells, parking and the fact that there are already six food outlets in very close proximity to the planned venue, to the planning inspectorate at Bristol. We received no acknowledgment of our objections and were not even told of the decision – we were informed of this when we rang the council having seen the present notice.
