WE have been welcoming your Rover-themed pictures for our pictorial trip down Memory Lane in recent weeks.
This week’s image has been sent in by Blackwell resident Phil Ward, whose family had a long association with the Austin Motor Company.
The image shows a ceremony at Longbridge held to mark the 20,000th Austin to be exported to the USA.
Phil says he’s not certain, but he believes the car pictured, heading to North America is an Austin Somerset circa 1948.
The Somerset featured a ‘Transatlantic’ body style designed for the international market and more than 150,000 were sold before they were replaced by the A40 Cambridge. Our thanks to Phil for sending in this image.
