RESIDENTS have been warned as more flooding and disruption could hit Worcester.
Dave Throup, environment agency manager for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, has tweeted: “We’ve just updated our flood warnings for Worcester to reflect the possibility of exceptionally high levels by midweek.
"Levels could be higher than those seen last week and if so, will result in more property flooding and significant disruption.
"May change so stay tuned.”
On Twitter, Worcs Highways and Travel said: "We’ve organised for emergency support to help pupils in Upton access Hanley Castle High School. A free shuttle bus will run from the New Street bus stop (opposite the White Lion Hotel) direct to Hanley Castle High from 8.10am and return to this point at the end of the school day."
With further rain affecting river levels over the coming days, any changes will be detailed.
West Mercia Police also tweeted: “Your Monday morning commute and school runs may be disrupted by overnight flooding and you may wake to find your routes blocked or closed.
“Adhere to the road closures and don't move signs or attempt to drive along roads closed. Closure updates are here @ShropCouncil & @WorcsTravel.”
Still a number of roads are closed in Worcestershire due to flooding issues.
These include:
- Bewdley bridge
- Stourport Road, Bewdley
- Hanley Road, Upton
All main river bridges on the Teme, Severn and Avon are fully open in Worcestershire with the exception of Bewdley bridge which is only open to pedestrian and cycle traffic - use bypass bridge to traverse the river in Bewdley.
With forecast rising river levels, Hylton Road in Worcester will fully close tonight at 7pm for the installation of a flood gate - diversion via Henwick Road.
All other city centre roads will operate normally.
