BROMSGROVE Sporting have been shortlisted for the annual Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards’ 'Sports Personality of the Year' title.

Organised by the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire, the awards aim to reward and recognise those people from across the two counties that take part, work, coach and volunteer in sport and physical activity.

The Sports Personality of the Year winner is the sportsperson or organisation, judged by a public vote, deemed to have achieved the most in 2017.

Sporting were nominated after an outstanding season which saw the side reach the semi-finals of the FA Vase as well as gain promotion to the Midlands League Premier Division.

The football club are joined on the award shortlist by Worcestershire opener Daryl Mitchell, Droitwich Rugby Club, Malvern cyclist Evie Richards, Hereford FC and Worcester Warriors centurion Jonny Arr.

Stephen Brewster, chief executive of the Sports Partnership, said: “The Sports Personality of the Year Award is particularly prestigious as it is voted for by the public.

“Voting is free of charge so I’d encourage everyone to select their favourite.”

Voting is now open at https://www.sportspartnershiphw.co.uk/spoty-poll until 11.59pm on Sunday, November 19.

The winner will be unveiled at the annual event, which is attended by more than 250 amateur and professional sports people, local businesses and dignitaries, on Thursday, November 23, at Sixways Stadium in Worcester.
