AVONCROFT suffered a disappointing 200-run loss to Cleobury Mortimer in Worcestershire County League Division Three.
The Hanbury Road-based side had opted to bowl first but their opponents, who are bottom of the table, made an impressive 300-9 on 50 overs.
Mortimer opener Ben Griffiths hit top form as he struck 164 runs.
There were two wickets each for James Downing, John Raxster, Kevin Prudoe and Alfie Todd.
Croft’s reply never really got going, particularly once they lost opening batsmen Sam Hughes (25) and Alex Brunt (20), as they were dismissed for 100 runs in 24 overs.
Avoncroft, who are sixth in the table, entertain Kempsey at home on Saturday (1pm).
There was more misery for the seconds as they lost by 105 runs to Cookley.
Despite three wickets for Mark Whitehead, Croft’s opponents made an impressive 313-8.
Croft were then bowled out for 208 in 45 overs, despite 30 runs for Mark Wood.
