DROITWICH got back to action in the Midlands Division Two West (South) but lost to leaders Spartans 25-8.
The visitors made the early running but solid defence by back row forwards Alex Saddington, Glen Topping and David Ingram kept them at bay.
But a series of attacks near the Droitwich line saw Spartans crash over to take the lead with a converted try.
Droitwich came back strongly with Steve Poke at scrum-half and centre Dan Wilkinson making good ground.
Sam Davenport dived over in the corner for a well deserved Droitwich try, before Bobby Scott-Walker’s penalty put the home side ahead.
This was, however, as good as it got for Droitwich as the visitors crashed over and took a 12-8 lead.
Spartans used their driving maul to great effect to score two more tries and put the game out of reach.
Droitwich side showed a great deal of spirit but are now in the relegation zone after a five game losing streak and must start picking up results.
Spa go to mid-table Banbury on Saturday, 2.15pm ko.
