BROMSGROVE suffered a huge blow to their promotion prospects when dealt a heavy 63 run reverse by Halesowen courtesy of the Duckworth Lewis system.

Having elected to bat first, the move backfired as Bromsgrove were restricted to 177 for nine from their full allotment of 50 overs.

Halesowen then raced to 150 for one in reply and were well on target for victory when rain arrived in the 33rd over.

The contest signalled the return of former Bromsgrove talisman Alexie Kervezee, but he was only required in a supporting role.

Kervezee wasn't even required to bat as Jamie Harris with 75 not out led Halesowen's charge and found support from Ed Kilbee with 37 and Kester Moseley with 27 not out.

Ash Newfield proved the pick of Bromsgrove's batsmen with 36 while Alec Baker added 30, but no Bromsgrove batsman could kick on with a big score.

Bromsgrove bid to bounce back this Saturday when they travel to Bridgnorth.
