BROMSGROVE Sporting believe they have inserted a key piece to their pre-season jigsaw by securing the services of experienced midfield man Danny Jackman.

The former Gillingham, Northampton Town, Stockport County and Kidderminster Harrier has put pen to paper after impressing in pre-season friendlies against Lichfield City and Bilston Town.

More recently, Jackman had been plying his trade with Worcester City.

Sporting boss Brendan Kelly said: "Danny will bring a huge amount of quality to our squad and his experience of playing hundreds of games in the Football League will be very much welcomed."

But Jackman was unable to assert himself against Shawbury United on Saturday after the game was called off at short notice.

Rouslers chairman Mike Burke said: "Shawbury cited a number of injuries and claimed they were unable to get a team together. It was very disappointing."

Sporting hope for better luck this Saturday when they travel to National League North side Leamington before making the short trip to Halesowen Town on Tuesday.

Sporting's first home friendly fixture is against Stourbridge on Saturday August 4 when supporters will be able to purchase this season's new replica kit together with season tickets.

Sporting also have home friendlies coming up against Rushall Olympic on August 7 and Evesham United on August 11.

The Rouslers commence their league campaign on August 18 when they travel to AFC Dunstable and then entertain Kidlington from Oxfordshire on August 21.
