BROMSGROVE Sporting boss Paul Smith has no plans to alter his squad, even at this early stage of pre-season.

Smith has already signed 20 players for the coming season and that number will increase to 22 when holiday commitments are completed.

Busy Smith confirmed: "I did all my business at a very early stage. I identified where I thought we needed to strengthen and acted accordingly.

"The players have done everything I've asked of them and I shall be going into the season with the players I have got.

"Nobody will be coming in, unless somebody else goes out".

Sporting have already secured two pre-season victories, overwhelming Chelmsley Town 12-0 and Romulus 3-0 but Smith was quick to insist: "The scoreline doesn't interest me at all. It was more important to me that the lads did what I ask of them."

Pre-season plans step up a gear this week when Sporting travel to Boldmere St Michaels based Paget Rangers before making the short trip to Redditch United on Saturday when Smith is expecting a healthy following of supporters to get behind the side.

Smith claimed: "I wouldn't be surprised if we took a couple of hundred supporters to Redditch considering we've already taken around 100 to our first two pre-season games."

Sporting kick-off the campaign with an FA Cup game at home to Rocester on August 5 and Smith expects to hit the ground running as the match is preceded by attractive friendly fixtures against Leamington and Stratford Town when he is expected to field his strongest side.

Smith said: " I know some of the lads weren't happy with me for bringing them back early into pre-season training but the fitness has been there for all to see in the two games we've played so far."
