BROMSGROVE Preparatory School’s Under-13s were crowned Midlands Champions after success at the Midlands mini hockey competition at Cannock.
The team started well with two 1-0 wins over Spratton Hall and Ellesmere College.
They had a tougher match next against King’s High Warwick and despite some excellent play from both sides, the girls held out for a 0-0 draw.
This meant that Bromsgrove finished top of their group and were through into the quarter-finals against Ranby House School.
Despite going 1-0 down early on, the they worked hard and managed to pull the score level in the final few minutes of the game. Bromsgrove then went onto win the penalty shootout.
They secured a place in the final by edging out Kings Heath Warwick 1-0.
This win secured the team’s place in the national finals, but they secured the Midlands title when seeing off Nottingham side The Elms.
