THERE will be quite a county connection when a tribute show heads into Worcestershire in October.

Direct from London’s West End, The Simon and Garfunkel Story will be appearing at Malvern’s Forum Theatre on Friday, October 3.

Award winning actor and musician Dean Elliott, who hails from Worcester and now resides in West Malvern, will be among a full cast of performers telling The Simon and Garfunkel Story.

The show will be using huge projections photos, original film footage and featuring a live band as they perform hits including ‘Mrs Robinson’, ‘Cecilia’, ‘Homeward Bound’ and many more.

Dean trained at the prestigious Sir Paul McCartney’s ‘Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts’ (LIPA) and rose to fame as the lead role in Buddy Holly in the West End production ‘Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story’. He played this part for two years at London’s Duchess Theatre, and also toured with the show to America, Canada and across Europe.

He plays Paul Simon opposite Jonny Smart, as Art Garfunkel.

Also in the show is Malvern man Josh Powell, drummer extraordinaire, who plays in the live band.

He began drumming at eight-years-old, and was heavily influenced at this early age by the styles of Dave Wekl, Dennis Chambers and Paul Simon’s long serving drummer Steve Gadd.

He says he is looking forward to the challenge of re-creating some of Simon & Garfunkel’s most iconic rhythmic arrangements.
