WORCESTER Wolves ace Dean Wanliss has been forced to resign from the club due to family matters.

Wanliss signed for Wolves on the eve of the British Basketball League season following his departure from Leeds Force.

But after recently having his contract extended the 29-year-old has now handed in his resignation.

The club confirmed head coach Ty Shaw would be “immediately seeking his replacement”.

Shaw said: “We are very sad to see Dean have to leave, but understand the circumstances.

“He is a great team guy, worked hard, and did a great job sharing his experience with our younger players.

“We really enjoyed getting to work with him and wish him and his family nothing but the best going forward.”

Wanliss said: ““Thank you for my short time here at the Worcester Wolves.

“It has been a great experience and the staff and fans have been welcoming from the beginning.”

Wolves take on Sheffield Sharks at the University of Worcester Arena on Friday night (7.30pm).
