CARDIFF Blues-bound wing Josh Adams refused to rule out a return to Worcester Warriors “at some point” in the future.

The Wales star will leave Warriors in the summer to join Cardiff but revealed it “would be lovely to come back” and play in the blue and gold again.

Since arriving at Worcester from Scarlets in 2015 Adams said he had made “lifelong friends” and praised the club’s coaches for nurturing his development.

With his contract due to expire at the end of this season Welsh Rugby Union’s selection policy states that the 23-year-old’s next deal had to be with a club from his homeland to continue playing international rugby.

However when asked by the Worcester News what he would have done had the 60-cap rule not existed Adams admitted his first option would have been to stay at Sixways.

“I definitely would have considered (staying) a lot more,” Adams said.

“I can’t say for definite that I would have stayed but of course I know that I am settled here and I am happy with the environment.

“The coaches are great to me and I have made some great friends so I definitely think that would have probably been option one.”

On the possibility of coming back to Warriors, Adams added: “It would be nice to make a return at some point.

“It’s hard to say right now because I don’t know how things are going to unfold over the coming years.

“I will take it day by day, but obviously towards the end (of my career) it would be lovely to come back and play at Sixways again.

“We will see about that when the time comes.”

Adams who played a key role in Wales’ Grand Slam success this month stressed that it was an “incredibly tough” call over his Warriors future.

“If I did want to carry on representing my country then I would have to make the move back across the bridge,” Adams said.

“People might think it was an easy decision to just carry on playing for Wales but considering what Worcester have given me in the past four seasons and how well they have looked after me it did take some thought.”

Adams’ try in the 27-25 victory at Bristol Bears on Saturday was his 35th touchdown in 60 appearances for Warriors.

But Worcester find themselves in a relegation battle as they sit three points above bottom club Newcastle Falcons and Adams said he was “determined” to depart with the club in a “better place”.

“I want to leave Worcester in the best possible place from now until whenever my last game will be," Adams said.

“I will put 110 per cent into whatever I do for Worcester.

“I have got so much respect for this group of players and the coaches as well.

“The coaches have looked after me terrifically well when I have been away with internationals stuff with Wales, managing my game-time and how many minutes I am doing on feet in the week to make sure I am fresh going into Saturday.

“I have made some lifelong friends here and it has been really nice to come through the academy and into the first team with a lot of boys that I started off with as well.

“I am determined to make sure that I leave here with the club in a better place.”
