CENTRE Ashley Beck believes Worcester Warriors will send a big statement “throughout Europe” if they stun French giants Stade Francais at the Stade Jean Bouin tonight (8pm).

Warriors are on a high after climbing to seventh in the Gallagher Premiership with a 52-7 thrashing of Bristol Beers at Sixways last Sunday.

Beck reckons the triumph will cause teams to sit up and take note and is now keen to keep the ball rolling with victory in their European Challenge Cup opener.

“I think a lot of teams probably underestimated us at the start of the year,” Beck said.

“But when they have played us they have actually thought to themselves how tough the match actually was.

“After that performance (against Bristol) I think teams have got to take us seriously.”

Stade Francais finished third from bottom in the Top 14 last term but are in a rich vein of form as they sit second after winning five of their seven league games.

“In this competition you are normally used to playing teams further down the table but I think Stade Francais are doing pretty well,” Beck said.

“To have a chance to go to a place like Paris and play against some of the players they have got is something you want to do. You can’t ask for better opposition.

“Stade Francais are going to want to keep their momentum going but we want to do the same so this game is going to be massive for both clubs.

“If we can claim that scalp out in France it will send a big statement to not just teams in England but throughout Europe.”
