CLUBS up and down the country will take part in the Preliminary round of the FA Cup this weekend as non-league sides look to move a step closer to the first-round proper.

As for the Worcestershire sides, there are five sides involved on Saturday as Evesham United, Bewdley Town and Stourport Swifts join the two Worcester clubs in action.

The Robins (Step 4) host lower-league outfit Tuffley Rovers (Step 5) at their Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium home. Evesham have drawn their opening two league matches in the Southern League South Division One but will be heavy favourites to progress from this tie.

As for the Swifts (Step 5), they have been handed a tricky-looking tie at Hanley Town (Step 4) of the Southern League. Quentin Townsend's men will be looking for a response after their 7-1 drubbing at Studley in mid-week.

Bewdley Town produced a terrific performance in their extra-preliminary tie two weekends ago, thrashing Daventry Town 7-3. But The Riversiders have endured a difficult start to their Midland Football League Premier campaign with two defeats from two and so the cup, they will hope, will act as a welcomed distraction from their league form. They are up in Leicestershire against Hinckley LRFC.

As for the two Worcester clubs, Raiders head to Shifnal Town whilst City are away at Westfields FC.

Teams who win in this round will receive £1,444 in prize money and enter the first round of qualifying, where there will be another draw. Ties that end level after 90 minutes will go to a replay.
