High-flying Pershore Town will be hoping it’s sixth time lucky when they make the trip to Gloucestershire tonight to take on a new-look Newent Town.

With The Plums’ previous five games being postponed due to the weather, Danny Janes’ men will be hoping they can carry on from their last outing 25 days ago, a 13-0 win against Cirencester Town Devs.

With a whole host of new additions being brought into the Town team, who also have a new manager in Dan Gillespie, Janes will be well aware of the task ahead of his side but with Town currently languishing in 16th with just five wins this season, the emphasis must be on the league’s top dogs to stamp their authority on the fixture.

"Newent Town away is difficult, we aren’t looking at the league table in relation to their position, we know what to expect." said Janes.

"There will be no excuses of not playing for three weeks, the players have trained well, all teams are in a similar position.

"We must start the game fast and not waste crucial minutes.

"Newent we believe will be slightly different in terms of personnel, we must adjust accordingly and ensure we impose ourselves on them."

Pershore, who remain nine points clear at the top of the Hellenic League Division One, will be hoping the near month without football won’t mean rustiness sets in for the team with a whopping 77 goals in the league so far this season.
