HALESOWEN Town boss Paul Smith is delighted with his side's winning start to the new season.

The Yeltz have quickly chalked up back-to-back victories to open their Southern League Division One Central account.

They battled to a 2-1 away success over ten-man Yaxley last Saturday before following that up with Tuesday night's 4-1 home win over Kidlington thanks to goals from Jamie Molyneux, Reece Hewitt, Montel Gibson and Andy Parsons.

Smith said: "Saturday was always going to be tough with a new group and first game tension away from home.

"It took us 20 minutes or so to get going but I thought we did well.

"When they had a man sent off it wasn't great for us because they put everyone behind the ball after that and made everything very difficult for us and we became a little frustrated.

"The pleasing thing and the biggest plus for me was the way we plugged on and then found a way.

"For our first home game I wanted the players to just relax and do their talking with their feet.

"We played some really lovely stuff and it was great to get around 500 fans turn out for a mid-week game so early in the season.

"We played as well as we have been during pre-season.

"They came out strong at the start of the second half but we managed the game for 20 or 25 minutes before coming on stronger at the end and could have had five or six goals in the end.

"On a whole, I'm really delighted. It's all about getting points on the board at this stage of the season and we've been able to do that.

"It's now about making sure we keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard."

The Yeltz now face a double header at Bedworth this weekend.

They first go there in the FA Cup preliminary round this Saturday before heading back their on Bank Holiday Monday for a league fixture.

Ethan Jones and Ash Sammons are both training following injury and Rob Evans is also back in the frame to boost Smith's options.
