WORCESTER Hockey Club women's firsts bounced back with a 2-1 home win over bottom-of-the-table Warwick in Midlands Feeder West.

They eventually got revenge for defeat earlier in the season after bossing possession in the first half without breaking the deadlock.

Keeper Jenny Ross-Thomas was called into action during Warwick's lively start to the second period.

But third-from-bottom Worcester turned the tide and after Helen Barnes struck the post on a short corner Tash Walker picked up the rebound to put them ahead.

Then a ball out of defence found Holly Smith who turned and beat a few players before executing a sweet reverse-stick shot past the keeper.

A late Warwick goal rewarded their efforts but Worcester held firm ahead of Saturday's home game with high-flying University of Birmingham fourths.

The seconds remained top of Worcestershire League Division One after beating Pershore 3-1 thanks to Libby Wycherley (2) and Clare Hayes.

Worcester thirds beat Bromsgrove fourths 5-1 in Division Two with a hat-trick from Lizzie Morris and Ellen Barlow's brace.

The fourths lost 12-0 to second-placed University of Birmingham sixths.

Birmingham scored three goals in the first half as keeper Ellie Seale made fine saves.

But the visitors really took control from then on and got nine more.

Worcester men’s firsts crashed 8-2 at home to second-placed University of Birmingham seconds in Midlands League Division One despite playing some good hockey.

Birmingham soon went 3-0 up but Jack Townsend coolly slotted home for Worcester after Ben Dalton moved Matt Kettley's pinpoint aerial pass onto the scorer.

But the students led 4-1 by the break and the hosts struggled to keep up with their fitness, pace and understanding in the second period.

With Worcester 9-1 down, Matt Gardner won a penalty corner, Chris Whitmore stepped up to drag-flick and Townsend pounced on a rebound from the keeper to net a consolation.

They visit Loughborough Students seconds on Saturday.

Worcester seconds lost 3-2 at home to Barford Tigers in an eventful West Midlands Premier battle with several green cards and chances at both ends.

A Tigers opener from a penalty corner was levelled by Rob Goodman only for the visitors to lead 2-1 by the interval.

Worcester equalised again through Asher Johnson but a lapse in concentration gave Barford the winning goal.

The men’s thirds lost 6-1 at Warwick thirds in the South West Premier with a Billy Forrester-Walker strike.

Worcester fifths made it four points out of six this season against their fourth team with a 2-2 draw in Division Two.

Alex Kloda and Ollie Betteridge scored for the fifths with Adam Ball and Stu Mackellar replying.

Worcester sixths drew 1-1 at home to Solihull Blossomfield thirds.

They pressured the visitors from the start but missed chances and conceded against the run of play from a penalty corner close to half-time.

After Charlie Bell’s shot span away from the keeper Andy Hares scooped the ball back for Tim Martin to slice in the equaliser.

Worcester missed golden chances in the second half and had to see out a string of penalty corners.

The sevenths lost 5-1 at Bromsgrove fourths in Division Three with Adam Holden on target.

Worcester Badgers Pippins beat Evesham and Badsey White 6-0 through Fin Goodman (2), Ava Thornley, Andrew Bowkett, Zac Goodman and Theo Copson.

The Potters drew 5-5 with Bromsgrove Blue in a thriller.

With only minutes left Worcester went 5-4 up but Bromsgrove fought back to level.
