ALVECHURCH boss Ian Long has challenged his strikers to fire in the goals which he hopes will take the Lye Meadow side into the Evo Stik Southern Central Premier play-offs this season.

It follows Church’s convincing 4-2 success over Lowestoft Town which took them back to fifth place in the table.

Long said: “It’s the first time we’ve scored four goals in a league game this season. The only other time we’ve scored four is against Bromsgrove Sporting in the FA Cup."

Kieron Cook opened the Church account but Lowestoft levelled through Adam Tann and Long admitted: “I was a bit concerned at the time, but I always felt confident we’d score again and so it proved."

Josh March struck twice with Ash Carter also on the mark as Church cruised to a comfortable win.

But Long is still striving to improve his squad and has served seven days for Bedworth United marksman Levi Rowley and Stratford Town playmaker Will Grocott.

Long can also include striker Joe Phillips who has joined from Aberystwyth Town now that his international clearance has come through.

Long added: “I want to make certain every area is covered."

Church entertain Barwell this Saturday in a game Long describes as a must-win contest before travelling to Kings Lynn next Tuesday.
