REDDITCH rang the changes but were ultimately blitzed 64-3 by Bredon Star as they lost interest in this season's North Midlands Vase when crashing out at the first hurdle.

Bredon instantly pinned Redditch back and won a penalty which they converted.

Redditch then failed to kick off legally and from the ensuing scrum, a kick into vast open space fell kindly for Bredon who went 10-0 up in a flash and from that point the game was effectively over.

Bredon smelt blood and went for the kill, using their narrow pitch to good advantage with some direct running, while Redditch heads dropped as the half progressed.

On one of the few occasions Redditch strayed into Bredon's 22, fly half Ashley Mooney managed to drop kick a penalty, but that was just scant consolation as Bredon ran in four more tries following overlaps and driving mauls.

There were hopes Redditch could turn things around in the second half with the wind and terrain in their favour but Bredon used their local knowledge to good advantage, keeping the ball low and driving hard which resulted with four more tries.

Redditch are at home to Hereford side Greyhound on Saturday.
