HIGH-flying Fairfield Villa were brought crashing back down to earth with a bump after being beaten 4-0 by local rivals Redditch Borough.

Billy Garvey grabbed a hat-trick with Jack Albutt also on target as Borough bagged a resounding win in front of a bumper 225 strong crowd.

Villa spokesman Paul Oakes admitted: "We knew what to expect as Borough play a very direct and robust game. We just didn't turn up and failed to match Borough's application and desire.

"That said, we had chances as Connor Collins hit the post while Alfie Bloomer was denied by Borough goalkeeper Josh Gandy when put clean through.

"Then Billy Garvey smashed home a glorious second goal and we were never going to come back from that."

Villa entertain FC Stratford this Saturday in Total Motion Midland League Division Two but have plenty of injury problems with Carl Xavier, Max Crisp and Scott Smith all missing.

To make matters worse Scott Holliday returned to play for Villa's reserve side after missing most of last season and ruptured his achilles.
