BROMSGROVE Crusaders recorded an emphatic victory away against Aston Old Edwardians second team last Saturday.

The picked up a 42-10 success fresh from securing a new sponsor in the form of Pinfields accountants.

Pinfields have a long association with the club and its partner Nick Pinfield is also a member of the Crusaders.

The Crusaders over the years have always performed at a high level taking on and beating a number of second and first teams despite being a veterans side.

With a host of players who have played for both the senior and junior club over many years, they continue to play competitively every Saturday during the season. This year the squad has over 10 players in their fifties.

Captain Martin Lakeman said: "The Crusaders are the backbone of the club, many having their sons playing in various ages groups. I'm incredibly proud to captain the side who every week play with passion, pride and for the love of the game.

"This year we have welcomed back a number of players who left the game for a while. There's no substitute for experience which we have abundance, I just wish we could have some of the speed back we once had."

The Crusaders are at home this week against Stourbridge.
