BROMSGROVE head coach Dan Protherough has warned his players there is still plenty of room for improvement after his side won their second local derby of the season when they defeated Droitwich 31-15 last Friday night.

Protherough said: "The scoreline flattered us a bit because we scored with the last play of the game.

"But the fact that we scored five tries and I'm still not satisfied must be a good thing.

"There was a stage in the game where we went 24-10 in front and we really should have pushed on from that point. Instead we gave away far too many penalties and gave Droitwich hope."

Bromsgrove soon found themselves 10-0 down under the Droitwich floodlights but recovered when winger George Amphlett made a decisive break to set up scrum half Will Harris for their opening try.

Openside flanker Hugh Lockhart then forced his way over for a second on the stroke of half time which Harris converted to put Bromsgrove 12-10 in front.

A third try followed from full-back Ross Attwood early in the third quarter before centre Ed Spalding chased a clever kick ahead for the bonus point try which Harris improved upon.

Droitwich cut the deficit with their second try before replacement scrum half Adam Whiteman went over for Harris to convert.

Bromsgrove continue the local derby theme this Saturday when they entertain Dudley Kingswinford at Finstall Park (3pm) and Protherough has called on all the club's supporters to turn out and get behind the side.
