BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) say a man in his 50s was injured in the disorder at Worcester Foregate Street Station yesterday afternoon.

BTP has also confirmed a man was arrested for GBH after the assault at the station.

Four police vehicles including two vans were called to the station following the assault that took place around 4.15pm.

An eyewitness said for a period no was allowed in or out of the railway station.

A spokesman for BTP said: "British Transport Police were called at 4.16pm to Worcester Foregate Street station following a report of an assault.

"A man in his 50s suffered injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH.

"He remains in police custody."
