I don't know about you but I have had quite enough of all the doom and gloom of late.

Today I wrote a story about the rainbow trail, which sees children decorate their windows with rainbows to brighten up the lives of passersby.

It was a welcome relief. Looking at little Mikey smiling with his rainbow really lifted my spirits and I want to do the same to you lovely readers.

So here are some things that happened this week that made me smile:

1.) People have been creating things to help people they have never met. Children have been involved in creating rainbows to make strangers smile. Schools have asked pupils to make cards and write letters to send to elderly people they have never met.

2.)Thousands and thousands of people have flocked to Facebook community groups to find out how they can help others, to share advice, support, and to form friendships.

3.) Dedicated shop workers and delivery drivers have worked day and night to provide us with everything we need and made sure that we don't go without.

4.) Doctors, nurses, receptionists, GPs, cleaners, porters and paramedics are putting themselves at risk without a second thought to take care of the sick.

5.) People are donating to foodbanks, feeding the homeless, setting up make a plate groups, offering nappies and baby formula and going out of their way to deliver food and items to others.

6.) Supermarkets have been handing out flowers to our NHS workers.

7.) Schools and nurseries have kept their doors open to allow key workers to do the critical work they must do to keep us all safe.

Everywhere you look there are selfless acts of kindness and generosity and love. It shouldn't take a crisis for us to find our humanity but it has. Lets vow to always be this nice to one another.
