ISOLATION pods have been installed in Worcester to serve as a coronavirus treatment centre.
The Coronavirus isolation centre is in the Working Well centre in Newtown Road.
NHS England has said not to panic as this is only a precautionary measure but wouldn’t confirm how many people had been into the centre since it opened three days ago.
Nine patients in England have tested positive for the virus, however none of these cases are in Worcester.
A spokesman from NHS England said: “The isolation pods have been installed nationwide as a precautionary measure. It ensures people who may be displaying symptoms of the virus to come and seek help without impacting other local services.”
He added: “It is nothing for people to be concerned about, there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Worcester.”
Nationally, a woman who attended a conference of up to 200 people in London last week tested positive for Coronavirus.
Transport Times, the conference organiser, emailed attendees on Thursday afternoon informing them that a person confirmed to be suffering from the coronavirus illness had been at the event.
Dr Yimmy Chow, consultant in health protection at Public Health England (PHE), said: “One of our main priorities has been to identify any people who we think have been in close contact with confirmed cases of Covid-19 to provide public health advice, as they may be at slightly increased risk of catching the virus.
