A MEDICAL charity has received a cash donation to help with its ongoing work.

Worcestershire Freemasons presented Midlands Air Ambulance with a cheque for £7000.

Currently, the service does not fly to scenes at night as there is a good road network in place, with less traffic.

However, critical care cars, are also frequently used within the day to attend emergencies that are quicker to reach by road and the money will go towards this service as well as the air ambulance.

As with helicopters, the critical care cars, have highly trained medics on board who effectively bring emergency hospital care to the patient – providing vital medical intervention.

A spokesman said: "These are the things that can mean the difference between life and death so it’s important to choose the most suitable way of reaching those who need help."

The sum includes £1500 from the Provincial Lottery presented by W Bro Derek Taylor, matched funded by from Masonic Charitable Foundation.
