A CHILDREN’S choir will add some festive cheer to hospice patients’ Christmas party after an appeal on social media.

Children from Hanbury CE First School will sing at Primrose Hospice’s patients’ Christmas party on Thursday, December 12.

The hospice had already secured youngsters from Millfields First School to sing favourite Christmas carols and songs at the party on Wednesday but struggled to find young singers for the following day.

An appeal was put out on social media and thankfully, the hospice was inundated with enquiries and suggestions.

Tina Andress, Day Hospice administrator, said: “We would like to say a great big thank you to Hanbury CE Primary School and Millfields First School for agreeing to perform at our patients’ Christmas parties.

“Everyone loves hearing the children sing favourite Christmas songs in Day Hospice and it really gets everyone into the festive spirit. A big thank you to everyone who shared our appeal and offered help and suggestions.”

Andrew Payne, head teacher at Hanbury CE First School, said: “We are delighted to support such a worthy cause and to help spread a little festive cheer to the patients and families currently receiving the invaluable help of the staff at the hospice, something that is very close to our hearts here at Hanbury.”

The hospice would also like to say a great big thank you to Central England Co-operative Funeralcare which has kindly sponsored the patients’ Christmas lunches including turkey and trimmings.

It comes after the company, which has a shop on High Street, Bromsgrove, also sponsored its Santa Fun Run sponsoring the medals, bottled water and mince pies.

Residents have also generously donated prizes for a tombola taking place on the party days and Father Christmas will also be paying a visit to the hospice on St Godwalds Road, Bromsgrove, to share in the fun on both days.

Primrose Hospice will also be holding Carols by Candlelight at the hospice on Thursday, December 19 from 6pm which is a free event for residents and is appealing for businesses and schools to take part in its Christmas Jumper Day on Friday, December 20.
