THE WURZELS will be the star turn at The Cotswolds Winter Cider Festival.
The smock-wearing heroes famously turned down Glastonbury in 2007, but the band has apparently looked favourably on an appearance at Cirencester’s Bingham Hall, on February 28, next year.
A spokesman said: "It's the perfect remedy to warm those cheeks in the chilly winter months ahead. The Festival is delighted to announce that the one-and-only The Wurzels will be headlining the event with a set of their rambunctious Scrumpy’n’Western tunes."
The Wurzels formed in 1966 as a bunch of "haystack-headed, cider-soaked and dung-booted, not-quite-so-young lads"
The spokesman added: "From the instant success of their 1967 anthem Drink Up Thy Zider to the heights of the chart-topping Combine Harvester in 1976 the four piece have in their popularity and cemented their status as national treasures."
