A ‘WALK of Witness’ has taken place in remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Christians met just before 10am at the Homebase store on Hylton Road, to walk in unison to the St John in Bedwardine in Worcester.

Revd Phil Bradford, minister at the church on Bromyard Road, said: “Today is one of the holiest days in the Christian calender.

“We are bearing witness to our faith by walking slowly from here back to the church.”

One of the congregation, Brenda Silverwood, aged 52, said: “I find Good Friday a sad time, a time for reflection on what happened to our saviour.

“But without this event we would not have the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Today is symbolic of the worst humans can do.”

Robin Beattie, aged 61, said: “I always come for this walk every year and go to church often and it’s a really important day for me.”

Beth Bradley, aged 29, said: “It’s good to show our faith outside of the four walls of the church and get out in the community.

“As Christians, we’re lucky to be able to practice our faith in such a tolerant society as many Christians around the world are persecuted for their Christian faith.”

For Arthur Miller, aged 68, this was his first time at the event.

He said: “It’s very important for me as Christian to show we’re not the tiny minority that people may think we are.” The walk finished with a service at St John in Bedwardine.
