THE organisers of Worcester Gin Festival have said their event is returning in May, and have stressed they are not the same as another group that went out of business.

The inaugural festival was held at the Guildhall last May and attracted big crowds as festivalgoers enjoyed tasting more than 100 different types of gin.

The event's debut completely sold out and organisers are hoping for a repeat when the event makes its return on the Bank Holiday weekend, May 4 to May 5.

Organisers are stressing the festival has no association with the National Gin Festival company that was forced to cancel an event planned to be held at Pitchcroft last July, after it went into administration.

Worcester Gin Festival is being backed by Bolero Bar & Kitchen, No 35 Wine Bar and Tonic Bar.

Richard Wheatley, general manager at Bolero Bar & Kitchen, said: “Last year’s festival was a great success with an amazing atmosphere.

"We received extremely positive feedback from the attendees who said the festival was like no other the city had seen before.

"This year the festival gives us an opportunity to show Worcester what their city and local area can produce."
