A 53-year-old man has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 12 months after admitting drink driving.

John Gummery, of Lambert Road, St John's, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on January 31.

The charge related to an incident in which Gummery was caught driving in Shrawley on January 6, giving a reading to police of 41 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg.

Gummery was disqualified from driving for a year, but was offered the drink drive awareness course which means this will be reduced by three months if he successfully completes it.

Gummery was also fined £120 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30, and costs of £135 - a total of £285.
