AN ANIMAL shelter managed to find a 'forever home' for a dog who had come from a difficult back ground.

Boris arrived at Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter after being neglected and initially found it difficult in his new environment.

Being a German Shepherd/Husky cross, he was quite big and scary and wasn’t afraid to tell off staff or volunteers if he didn’t like what was happening.

However, he quickly became a favourite with everyone at the shelter and started to enjoy his exercise, attention and his food. Staff at the shelter say It didn’t take long for his personality to shine although he would still get a little grumpy if he didn’t get what he wanted.

It was around this time that he was spotted online by Richard Radon, who had previously adopted Maisy the Border Collie from us 10 years earlier.

Richard visited the shelter to meet Boris and it was love at first sight. Boris left the shelter shortly after and is now affectionately known as Bow.

Richard let the shelter know that Bow loves his walks and has a lovely big garden to play in, as well as going away on holidays – he really is living his best life.

Richard said: “He loves to go out for a walk as much as I do and I walk him at least 3 miles every day come rain or snow. We have even managed to fit in over 8 miles in a day.”

Richard and Bow are one of many success stories about the animals being rehomed through Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter

Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter (WARS) was formed on 23 May 1983 following a public meeting, which expressed great concern at the number of unwanted animals being abandoned and ultimately destroyed within the County. Agreement was reached that the most satisfactory way to effect a change was to provide a genuine animal shelter equipped and staffed to take care of all such abandoned, lost, unwanted, stray and neglected animals.

The Shelter is run by dedicated staff and volunteers wanting to ease the distress of animals that, through no fault of their own, are abandoned, unwanted or mistreated.
