POLICE carried out an early morning raid on an alleged drugs den, cutting down the door with a chainsaw.

Acting on information that a house in Ploughmans Rise, Droitwich, was being used by a dealer in the supply of Class A drugs, officers executed a warrant at 7.30am on Tuesday.

Rapid entry was gained into the address by specialist officers using a chainsaw to cut through the front door before it was bashed open with an enforcer.

It is believed a drug dealer, who was not in the property at the time, was operating as part of the sprawling narcotics distribution model known as ‘county lines’.

PC Richard Rees, from the Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood team, said a quantity of drugs were found during the search.

He said digital evidence, which will be examined for evidence of drug dealing, was also located at the property, adding that enquiries are “ongoing”.

PC Rees went on to warn any drug dealers that the police will continue to crackdown on the supply of illegal substances.

“Any addresses suspected of dealing drugs or housing dealers will be targeted,” he said.

“As well as any potential criminal proceedings we will also work with housing associates to evict people involved in this type of criminality.”

Operation Blade, launched at the end of September last year has already seen more than 100 arrests made in connection with county lines dealing.

The scheme’s aim is to cut the supply of class A drugs from larger cities like Birmingham into small cities and county towns like Worcester and Droitwich.

At the start of the operation, over 10 days in November last year, officers raided three drug dens in Droitwich, resulting in numerous arrests and one closure order.

Speaking earlier this year, Wychavon Sergeant Sarah Kent said: “If you deal drugs from your home address, then we will do our very best to make sure you lose your home address.”

Any suspected drug dealing should be reported to 101.
