A NEW app to help cut down on hospital waiting times has been introduced at Worcestershire Royal.

The app, called CAPP, provides live figures on free beds and the number of patients waiting for one, across the trust which runs Worcestershire's hospitals.

CAPP has been in use at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch since July, while a trial of the app began at the Royal on September 10, with the hope it will go live in early October.

It will save time and allow staff to have a real-time view of bed capacity and demand, rather than wait for a paper report to be produced, which can often be outdated by the time it is received.

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean met the creators of CAPP, Matthew Stott, Matt Turner, Thomas Taylor and Kevin Dockerty.

She said: “This app is the first of its kind being used in the country, and has been developed by the acute trust’s staff.

"It is already helping the hospital with patient flow and capacity management."
