THE friends of Liam Ball, who died following a car crash earlier this month, have demonstrated how awful tragedies can bring out the best in people.

Ryan Clayton is running a half marathon to help Liam’s parents pay for the funeral, while Cerys Caldwell’s setting up of a book of condolence at Pure Gym is helping to give people an outlet for their emotions.

And these are just two examples, but help to prove a point.

In today’s society, teenagers often take a lot of flack from the older generations for lacking empathy and sensitivity, but these two have demonstrated that the reverse is true.

Their actions are completely selfless and should be celebrated and supported.

By all accounts, Liam was a popular and talented young man who was building a career as a barber when he died so suddenly.

Floods of tributes have been coming in on social media, but at 17 he was still far too young.

It’s hard to imagine what his family must be going through at this moment but I’m sure they are proud of what Liam achieved in his short life but also greatly touched by the actions of his friends.
