BUDDING poets across Dudley are invited to get scribbling for a virtual lockdown poetry event.

Black Country poetry trio Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists are running a host of poetry events on Facebook for wordsmiths across the region called 'Stay Up Your Own End’.

It is the turn of Dudley's poets to wow the judges on Monday, June 15 and people across the borough are invited to write on the theme of their lives in Dudley and how they imagine the area in the future.

Dudley poet Rick Sanders said: "I would like you to write about the Dudley of the future. We spend a lot of time looking back at the history and heritage of Dudley, but I want you to paint a picture of what Dudley might mean to you in two, five, ten or 100 years time. If you could shape the future of Dudley, where would you take it?"

Anyone can submit a poem and work should be sent to poetsprattlerspandemonialists@gmail.com by midday on Sunday, June 14.

A Facebook live event will then be held on the Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists page on Monday, June 15, where one poem will be chosen as the judge's favourite to bag the writer a £25 cash prize.

Anyone is invited to the event, either as a contributor or audience member.

The page can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1293834050753852/

The project is part of Creative Black Country’s Creative Communities Commission's that help people to engage with the arts and creativity while regular live events are impossible due to Covid-19.
