A FURTHER 11 patients being treated for coronavirus at Russells Hall Hospital have died, Dudley hospital chiefs have confirmed.

The announcement means a total of 106 patients at the hospital who have tested positive for COVID-19 have now passed away.

The 11 patients were aged between 61 and 94-years-old and all had underlying health conditions.

Diane Wake, chief executive of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said in a statement: "Sadly, we can confirm that 106 patients being cared for at our hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died. Eleven of those have been announced today.

"The patients were aged between 61 and 94 years old and all patients had underlying health conditions.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time."

The coronavirus death toll in the UK currently stands at 6,159, according to daily Department of Heath figures.
