GRANTS totalling £13m have been paid out so far to Wyre Forest businesses affected by coronavirus.

Since last Friday (April 3), Wyre Forest District Council’s revenues team has been working around the clock to get business grants into the bank accounts of eligible businesses.

The Government recently announced as part of the national response to the covid-19 pandemic that it would pay £10,000 to all businesses that receive small business rate relief, and up to £25,000 to eligible businesses in the retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors.

Councillor Graham Ballinger, leader of Wyre Forest District Council, said: “Our team has been working harder than ever to make sure all eligible business have the funds paid into their bank accounts as soon as possible.

"They have done an incredible job in a remarkably short time period and we know from the many calls and emails we have received, that this is making a massive difference for the district’s businesses.
