A MAN has been charged with a number of rapes and other sexual offences which took in Frankley and other towns in the late 90s.
Phillip Blackwell, 55, of Western Road, Launceston, Cornwall, was arrested on Wednesday (22 January) and was charged with four counts of rape, an attempted rape and an indecent assault.
This follows a joint investigation between Warwickshire and West Midlands Police.
Offences that took place include the attempted rape of a woman in Frankley on February 3 1998, the indecent Assault of a woman in Bournville on December 21 1997 and the rape of a woman in Selly Oak on November 22 1997.
Blackwell is also charged in connection with the rape of a woman in Yardley on February 9 1997 and the rape of a woman in Weddington, Nuneaton on May 30 1998.
Blackwell will appear at Leamington Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, January 27).
