AN award-winning independent card and gift shop in Stourbridge has closed its doors for the final time.

Celebrations in the town’s High Street was one of only a limited number of official Cath Kidston stockists and within two years of opening the shop had been named best new gift shop in the country in The Greats and best new card shop at The Retas, both in 2012.

But shoppers were this week saddened to see a note in the window of the shop, run by Roger Eames and Laura Didehvar, saying the store has closed for good.

It said: “After ten years in Stourbridge Celebrations has sadly closed its doors for the last time.

“Roger, Laura and the staff would like to thank all their loyal customers, suppliers and friends for their support over the years and wish them all the best for the future. We will miss you.”

Saddened customers have taken to Facebook to say how much they will miss the shop.

One said: "So so sad. By far the best card shop in the West Midlands. Will miss this shop so so much."

Another said: "Absolutely gutted. Such a lovely shop with friendly helpful staff."

And another said it was "a tremendous loss to Stourbridge High Street".
