PLANS have been forward for a number of flats and apartments next door to the town's lively Wetherspoon pub.
A planing application has been submitted to convert the space above the former Prezzo, next to the Golden Cross in High Street, into flats and apartments.
The site, 22 to 24 High Street, would be turned into six one bed flats and three two bedroom apartments.
At the moment the space is just a derelict grade II listed building; with former uses including a four storey family home with servants quarters on the upper levels and more recently a furniture warehouse.
A smaller building to the rear of the site, a former Slaughter House which is also currently derelict, would be turned into two one bed flats.
In supporting information applicant Morrison Developments said a number of historic features will be retained and restored, such as sash windows, and timber panelling.
The original building has an impressive High Street elevation that would be restored to its former prowess.
