VOTES continue to flood in for Evesham Journal Pub of the Year contest as this week the spotlight falls on the Vineyard Inn.

Voted for by the public the aim is to find the most popular watering hole, while also celebrating the fantastic pubs in our area. Last year hundreds supported their favourite establishments.

The Abbot's Salford pub has been receiving nominations, with praise for landlords Keith and Lorraine Pratley, who have been running the establishment for the past two years.

Mrs Pratley said the pub aims to be family friendly with open mic nights, live sport shown and traditional British pub food served. Mrs Pratley said it had been "going steady" since they had took it over, and spent money on the front of the pub to give it a visual improvement.

Mrs Pratley said if readers chose them as the winner it would be an excellent surprise.

The winning landlord receives a Pub of the Year 2019 trophy and will be invited to the Houses of Parliament by the town’s MP.

To vote, simply cut out the slips from the newspaper and send them to us.

Readers can also vote for their favourite pub by email. All readers need to do is email deb.walton@localiq.co.uk with the subject ‘EVESHAM JOURNAL PUB OF THE YEAR: NAME OF THE PUB’ and then, in the body of the email, explain why they’ve chosen the pub.

The deadline for email votes is the same as for the voting slips in the paper: Friday, December 20.

The winner will be announced in the Journal and on our website on Christmas Eve.
