A PUB in Bewdley has reopened under new ownership following a major refurbishment to give it a "new lease of life".

The Little Pack Horse in Bewdley high street officially opened to the public on Friday after being taken over by town resident Bernadette Stelling, who locals might recognise as a previous owner of The Bellman's Cross at Shatterford.

Bernadette, whose family has lived in Bewdley for 30 years, said: "The pub has had a total refurb. It's been repainted, redecorated, has new windows, tables, chairs and lights and new upholstery.

"It was looking tired and needed a new lease of life, and we've had a really positive reaction from our customers already.

"We've kept the pub as a real ale pub with traditional food, so it's still got that nice home from home feeling and country pub atmosphere."

Bernadette will run the pub with support from family and has taken on a team of 10 new bar staff from the local area.

The main bar room is dog-friendly and there is a table service restaurant area next door, as well as a beer garden overlooking the jubilee gardens.

The pub has introduced new menus - including a three-course Sunday lunch menu - but is still serving its famous pies, with food sourced from the nearby butchers, bakery and fruit and veg shop.

Food is served each day from 12pm to 3pm and from 6pm to 9pm.

Bernadette added: "It is our privilege to take on and maintain the wonderful history of such a unique and special country pub and restaurant that has always had such a great reputation."
