THE candidates standing for parliament will be arguing their cases when they appear at election hustings events organised in Evesham and Pershore.

The general election is being held on Thursday, December 12 and as candidates continue their campaigns for your vote, they will go head-to-head at the debates that have been organised.

In early December the candidates for the West Worcestershire parliamentary seat, Harriett Baldwin, Conservative, Samantha Charles, Labour, Beverley Nielsen, Liberal Democrat, and Martin Allen, Green will be appearing at Pershore High School.

The husting has been organised by Churches Together In Pershore and the Station Road-based school.

"We are keen to help everyone take part in this important national election," says Pershore's vicar, the Reverend Claire Lording.

"Particularly young people for whom it may be an early experience of democracy in action."

The husting will be chaired by Neil Sprague, pastor of Pershore Community Church, from 7pm on Tuesday, December 3. Written questions before the event can be sent or emailed to the Pershore Abbey Office in Broad Street. For more details email office@pershoreabbey.org.uk, or call 01386 552071.

Meanwhile on Thursday, November 28, Nigel Huddleston, Conservative, Margaret Rowley, Liberal Democrat, Helen Russell, Labour, and Sue Howarth, Green Party, will be appearing at a hustings event at Evesham Parish Church in Market Place.

The event begins at 7pm.

Participants wanting to ask a question on the night are invited to submit questions for the candidates by writing to Hustings, Church House, Market Place, Evesham, Worcestershire, WR11 4RW.

Alternatively email hustings@evesham.church.

Reverend Andrew Spurr, the vicar of Evesham, said they want questions in advance as they want to organise questions into subject areas.

If questioners provide their contact details then, if their question is selected, they can ask it themselves on the night.

The deadline for questions is Tuesday November 26 at 5pm.
