RUGBY players are used to being covered head to toe in mud - but a Bromsgrove salon had something different in mind with a 'sparkling' idea to raise funds for Children In Need.

Studio 142 Bromsgrove owner Amelia Bourne and colleague Kate Hutchins took male grooming to a different level as they covered Bromsgrove Rugby Club players in glitter.

Kate told the Advertiser they wanted to eschew usual fundraising ideas like waxing in order to do something totally unique.

Worcester News:

She said: "I had an idea and got completely carried away by wanting to cover someone head to toe in glitter, which wouldn’t shock a lot of our clients!

"This very quickly moved on to “Why only one?” Obviously Amelia knew that she couldn’t talk me out of it!"

Players from Bromsgrove RFC - Jay Martin, Josh Holt, Michael McPherson, Tom Hinks, Cam McCann, Tom Solomon and Mark Burrell - were willing guinea pigs, even though it was not just a case of being decorated and done with it.

Worcester News:

Oh no, they then had to walk half a mile from the salon to the rugby club while dressed in very little - other than glitter - to complete the charity challenge last Sunday.

Thus far, the escapade has raised £400 for Children In Need but donations can still be made at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sparkleandshimmerforpudsy

Worcester News:

Anne Hill was among the salon's clients to get involved on the day.

She said: “I would like to thank Studio 142 for inviting me and giving me an opportunity to be part of a brilliant charity event that put smiles on so many faces.

"I genuinely laughed until I cried. Such fun, in fact days on and I am still finding bits of glitter falling off me!"
