FLOOD warnings have been put in place across the Wyre Forest for this afternoon as heavy rainfall persists.

The River Severn levels have risen at the Puxton river gauge and the Environment Agency has alerted the public about possible flooding.

Low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Caunsall to Stourport are likely to be affected, as well as Wolverley and Cookley, Blakedown and Kidderminster.

River levels are expected to remain high for the rest of the week and incident response staff are currently monitoring the situation.

Yesterday, the Environment Agency deployed flood defences in Bewdley in preparation for the bout of heavy rainfall.

A tweet by Wyre Forest District Council says that sandbags are available at Vale Road, Stourport, Gardners Meadow, Bewdley and The Depot at Green Street, Kidderminster.
