A LYE man received a suspended jail term for possessing a Taser and a metal baton.

Michael Hughes, aged 50, of Crabbe Street, Lye, pleaded guilty to possessing an extendable metal baton on Hagley Road in Stourbridge without lawful authority or reasonable excuse. He also admitted possessing a 50,000 volt electric Taser, at Dudley Magistrates' Court. He received a four month jail term, suspended for 12 months, and must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £307 in costs and a surcharge.

Samantha James, aged 29, of Wellington Court, Dudley, was found guilty of stealing seven joints of beef, worth £70, from Aldi in Stourbridge. She received a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, due to persistent offending. She was also ordered to pay compensation, a surcharge and costs totalling £292.

Hamza Sulaiman, aged 29, of Priory Road, Dudley, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. He was fined £108 and ordered to pay a £30 surcharge and £175 costs.

Luke Cheshire, aged 31, of Valentine Road, Oldbury, pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing cannabis. He received a community order and must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge and costs totalling £270.

Joseph Tipton, aged 32, of Golden Cross Way, Brierley Hill, pleaded guilty to driving over the legal alcohol limit. He was fined £80 and was ordered to pay a £48 surcharge and £135 costs. He was also disqualified from holding a driving licence for 20 months.

Matthew Hunt, aged 37, of Harrison Road, Wordsley, admitted failing to provide a breath specimen when requested by police. He received a community order and must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months and was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 25 months. He was also ordered to pay a £90 surcharge and £300 costs.

Mark Hill, aged 36, of Sherwood Road, Stourbridge, pleaded guilty to stealing £89.38 worth of food from Aldi in Dudley and also admitted stealing three joints of meat from Aldi in Wollaston. He was ordered to pay a fine, surcharge and costs totalling £227.

Thomas Newton, aged 34, of Foxhill Road, Wordsley, pleaded guilty to driving over the legal alcohol limit on Dudley Southern Bypass. He received a community order and was ordered to pay a £90 surcharge and £135 costs.

Lynn Webley, aged 49, of Moncrieffe Close, Dudley, was found guilty of assaulting Lindsay Holloway by beating. She received a restraining order and must pay a fine, compensation, surcharge and costs totalling £692.

Paul Sutton, aged 49, of Lawnsdown Road, Quarry Bank, pleaded guilty to driving over the legal alcohol limit in Cradley Heath. He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months and was ordered to pay a £120 fine, a £32 surcharge and £135 costs.

Ash Ademi, aged 18, of Vicars Walk, Stourbridge, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He received a 12 month conditional discharge and and was ordered to pay £100 in compensation and a £20 surcharge.

Luqman Rehman, aged 24, of Sandon Road, Lye, admitted possessing a knuckle duster in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse. He was fined £150 and must also pay a £30 surcharge and £135 costs.
