Fifty runners from The Little Princess Trust in Hereford were among the thousands taking part in Sunday's Cardiff half marathon.

Warm sunshine shone as the runners made their way around 13.1 miles of the Welsh capital yesterday.

Tim Wheeler, The Little Princess Trust chair of trustees, was among the 'LPT 50' and certainly stood out as he was dressed as scissor man.

Another to run in fancy dress was Alex Hustwayte. And the fairy wings and skirt certainly proved inspirational for the firefighter as he was the first Little Princess Trust runner around the circuit in an incredible time of 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Wendy Tarplee-Morris, the charity's co-founder and research manager, managed to combine running with media duties as she was interviewed live on television by the former GB athlete Jamie Baulch.

The BBC2 footage also included a video showing the history of The Little Princess Trust and how the charity continues to provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children who have lost their hair due to cancer and other conditions.

Meanwhile, Rebekah Thompson's run helped the charity to get its request across for longer hair donations. She has put back her hair cut so the donation will be in excess of 12 inches as demand rises for longer wigs.

So far the run has raised £14,000 for The Little Princess Trust - and that figure is expected to rise. That money, however, will not just go to providing wigs as the charity - which is based on Broad Street - is also funding research into childhood cancers and less toxic treatments.
